V-Net modules andInterface modules, althoughsimilar in construction andappearance, are verydifferent in the functionsthey perform. It is importantthat components designed forone system not beinterchanged with the other.V-Net cables use a 5-pinconnector, while Interfacecables use a 7-pin connector.So that cables can beidentified at a glanceRacepak has colour-coded theconnectors on the end of thecables. V-Net cableconnectors are blue, justlike the modules to whichthey attach, while Interfacecable connectors and modulesare black.
The cableslisted may be used to linkthe components to otherlisted components of the samesystem, or to their properport on the recorder. TheInterface cables with blackconnectors will only be usedwith modules connecting tothe RPM or Analogue inputports, while the V-Net cableswith blue connectors will beused exclusively on itemsconnected to the V-Net port.
All V-Net systems muste. The Tee cable permits theinstallation of the twoterminator caps (one male andone female) which arenecessary to the operation ofthe V-Net system. Just likethe ends on the V-Net cables,all V-Net Tee cables andTerminator Caps are blue.
Interface modules can alsouse a Tee cable, but only forthe purpose of providing abranch in the system. It isnot a mandatory component asit is on the V-Net system.The black Interface Teecables and dust caps are usedjust for the purpose theirnames imply. They are notrequired for the system tooperate properly.
